New Cisco Career Certification

Cisco Announces New Unified Communications Design Certification.

In ongoing efforts to provide up-to-date training in critical IP Telephony applications, Cisco introduces the new Cisco Unified Communications Design Specialist certification. This new certification consists of a new Cisco Unity Design Networking (CUDN v1.0) course, the Unified Communications for Systems Engineer (UCSE v1.2) course, and a new comprehensive exam.

Students who complete these courses will develop the skills and knowledge required to install, configure, operate, and maintain a Cisco Unity 4.0 system in both stand-alone voice mail and unified messaging environments, and will acquire the knowledge and expertise necessary to create a variety of sustainable Cisco Unity design solutions, tailored to meet specific customer requirements.

CUDN is an advanced course focusing on the Active Directory, messaging, and phone switch components that form the basis of the Cisco Unity design solution. Repeatable design methodology is covered extensively, providing candidates with the tools and practices to create sustainable design solutions tailored to specific customer needs. Techniques for designing Unity solutions that interoperate with legacy voicemail systems, and design conventions for designing a large voicemail-only solution are provided. Rules for four key deployment models are covered in detail, including centralized call processing with centralized messaging (CCP-CM), distributed messaging (CCP-DM), distributed call processing with centralized messaging (DCP-CM), and distributed call processing with distributed messaging (DCP-DM).

UCSE is recommended as a pre-requisite to CUDN and covers all of the topics necessary for installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of a Cisco Unity 4.0 system in either a stand-alone voice mail or unified messaging environment. UCSE provides best practice information for installation, upgrades, and technical level system set up.

While not required, it is strongly suggested that candidates pursuing the Unified Communications Design Specialist certification have completed the Microsoft System Engineer (MCSE) certification with an emphasis on Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003.
